Al Battistero is an elegant three bedrooms, two bathrooms apartment, very spacious and bright, located in the heart of Lucca's historic centre. The beautiful covered terrace (patio) overlooks the backside of the san Giovanni Church. Nothing could be more suggestive!
The apartment is located on the third floor above ground (55 steps). There is an entrance hall off which are the first of three bedrooms. This bedrooms (the blue) comes with a queen sized bed and en-suite bathroom (with a bath/shower ). The second bedroom, the green, comes with two single beds.
The sitting room is also accessed off the main entrance hall. This is a spacious and comfortable room with twin french doors opening onto the terrace. Other features are a large open fireplace (only for beauty) with original stone mantle and parquet floors. Walking through the sitting room, you will find a spacious, light and extremely well laid out kitchen. There is a professional stove and cooktop and everything required to cook. There is access to the terrace via another french door, enabling easy access and flow.
There is a dining area at the other end of the kitchen with a functional glass top table. Original frescoes have been discovered in the kitchen and have been restored and encorporated into the the overall decore. The kitchen also houses an large fridge with freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Beautiful the marble benchtops and sink. The third bedroom is the largest one with a queen sized bed. It has direct access to the second bathroom (with a walk-in shower) which also opens onto the entrance hall and is shared with the green bedroom. The apartment is fully airconditioned and comes with screens at every windows

About the LOCATION.
The apartment is located along Via del Battistero, the street of antique stores. It is pedestrian area - connecting Piazza Napoleone and Piazza San Martino. Once a month, this street is home to Lucca's famous antique market where dealers from as far as Rome come to display their wares. Downstairs, just off the front-door there are some interesting art galleries, some of which during the summer are open also for aperitifs and dinner, after dinner so you can enjoy eat and art at the same time. Don' t forget the proximity of San Giovanni Church which allow you to listen to the concert every night at 7pm.. you can sit in the patio with a glass of wine and listen to beautiful music…

Groceries and restaurant just few steps away from your front door, train station and bus station is 12-13 minutes walking away, as well as car parking.

4 of us stayed in this beautiful apartment for 10 days and loved every minute of it! It has a great split master floorpan so both couples had privacy. We loved finding local wines and cheeses and sitting on the terrace every night to listen to the Puccini concert. Lucca is an absolutely gorgeous city. We took train trips to Florence and Pisa, but were so ready to get to the peace and quiet of our "home" at the end of the day. Deborah and Paola are amazing hosts. They took care of everything you could possibly need, and then some. Its a treat to go on a tour of Cinque Terre with Paola. And see if they will set you up with a personal Tuscany wine tour or a trip to Volterra with Andrea. Do not forget to walk the wall and stop for expresso in the mornings! We cannot wait to start planning our next stay here.

My friend and I stayed at Al Battistero for the last week of a three-week trip to Lucca and did not want to leave! This is a gorgeous apartment with all the comforts of home if your home is luxuriously decorated, has a professional kitchen and a terrace overlooking the back of San Giovanni Church were you can listen to the Puccini concerts every night. The beds are comfortable and I wanted to stuff my bed pillow into my suitcase and take it home, it was that lovely.
The location is perfect for walking to shops and restaurants but is quiet enough to feel hidden. We spent a lot of time wandering around the neighborhood, people watching, eating gelato and drinking very good local wines. We were also fortunate enough to be there the third week of the month when a huge antiques market is held in the neighborhood. Old silver table settings, paintings, ceramics, curios, lots of books and prints ... it was a unique event to wander through.
Debora is the best property manager ever. When we could not get a light fixture to turn off, she sent her colleague, Paola, over within the hour to take care of it. Debora and Paola made us feel welcome and cared for. Their travel suggestions and day trips added so much to our time in Lucca. If you want an experience that takes you from being a tourist to a visitor, I highly recommend renting this property for your stay in Lucca. And don't forget to walk the wall.
